I’ve wanted to make some kind of comment on 2 of my favorite series, the Apprentice 4 and ANTM 5 (America’s Next Top Model for those who still doesn’t know) that ended recently (okay, maybe not so recently) but something kept getting in my way. First, there’s my slave-driving boss that kept dropping ‘assignments’ at my desk, as if I have no life to go back to. Then, there’s the upcoming wedding of my 18 year old niece (yes, I did say niece) Emma to her barely-out-of-college fiancé and after a series of very, very unfortunate events, I’m appointed as the new maid-in-honor after Julia bailed out. And I swear that I’ll be all Oprah (or just bitch-slap someone) if anyone (particularly nosy match-making aunts) mention the phrase ‘Don’t worry dear, your time will come eventually’ at the wedding (which is like in 3 weeks). Last but not least, Jojo’s literary been begging me to take him back after Julia’s cold brush off last night. Hah! Serves you right for dumping me in the first place you furry-white-feline!
Back to the main focus now. I’ve always rooted for Randal in the Apprentice Season 4 so I’m ecstatic when my prediction came true. And that priceless question from The Donald (he asked him whether he should hire runner-up Rebecca as well) is definitely the highlight of the finale, seconds only to Randal’s roughly translated ‘Hell No!” answer. But it might not be the 1st time that Mr. Trump appeared to be uncertain with his final decision. Remember femme-bot Jen in Season 2? The Donald was so ‘impressed’ with the talking Barbie that he’d almost made the mistake of choosing her over someone-who-actually-can-do-his-job Kelly. But you gotta hand it to The Donald for his good track record in hiring the right employees. Previous winners include Bill from Season 1 (but Kwame is also a top choice in my book) and Kelly from Season 2. And I admit it, I practically jump out of my seat when Kendra from Season 3 was named the new ‘apprentice’ cause I was fighting the urge to reach into the TV and smack Tana’s head as hard as I could.
But things cannot be more different in my all time favorite reality series, the ANTM. I’m unashamed to admit that I’m an ANTM devotee even since Cycle 1 produces the fabulous Elyse and Adrienne. And for years, I’ve been struggling with the judges so-called ‘decisions’ regarding the winners, and the recent Cycle 5 is no exception. Nicole might have the potential to become a model but Nik is the clear winner in my mind. And even though I’m not exactly a Lisa’s fan, I’m still ‘dumbfounded’ that the judges let her go cause she has some serious potential, way ahead of whiny Nicole. But then again, this is what I think anyway. But what’s for certain, there’s definitely some ‘sinister force’ behind the decisions that might felt threatens with the previous & upcoming winners (dare I say superdiva T) and it must be stop immediately. So far the only ‘technically right’ decisions that were previously made includes Adrienne Cycle 1 (although I think Elyse should’ve won it but I’m cool with Adrienne) and Naima Cycle 4 (even though I’m more of a Brita & Kahlen fan). I’ve also come to terms with Yoanna Cycle 2’s winning (yes Mercedes, it definitely sucks when you didn’t win it cause you definitely deserved it girl) but Eva Cycle 3’s just so wrong to me. And even though I literary hate Yaya (oh look at me, I’m a prissy, multilingual bitch) I found myself actually rooting for her in the end to beat the crap out of Miss Runway-Challenge-Mini-Diva. Kate Moss you ain’t baby!
